No. Didn't see the original. Michael Crichton was a great writer until he started on his "Global Warming is a hoax" bullshit.

What do you think about the time period theory? (Jimmy becomes the Man in Black in the future)

I was out visiting my parents in Arizona last week so I am a few episodes behind so I can't comment.  Lots of Sporanos and Boardwalk Empire directors and producers in on this show.
