When you can't ski... Mountain Bike Needed!

Any advice on picking up a used Mountain Bike primarily for Gore's Ski Bowl Trails.  Lack of snow is driving me crazy (all of us crazy, I know!) and I'm ready to hit the trails and make use of the nice (or not so nice) weather.

I'm fond of older and unloved things and prefer to reuse.  There's certainly enough good bikes out there  (whether fat tire or conventional) to make a go of it.

So anyone have a bike for sale?  or a link to one on eBay or Craigslist that seems like a decent price.   Or even a suggestion of something halfway decent brand new so that I can talk to the folks at my local bike store in Saratoga Springs without sounding like a naive newbie fool.

To help with specs, I am 5' 10"

Plan on really falling in love with riding and not just riding the SB trails.  Try going a bit above your comfort level when buying, you'll be happy that you did.
