Misspoke. That wording in service agreement link posted
|
Big fucking difference. The service agreement has nothing to do with Windows 10.

As soon as you use that Microsoft account they imply is needed it does. Some features won't work without one like Cortina. Anyone wanting to install any apps from the app store will require one
You like this privacy blurb We share your personal data with your consent or as necessary to complete any transaction or provide any service you have requested or authorized. For example, we share your content with third parties when you tell us to do so, such as when you send an email to a friend https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/privacystatement/ |
Did you read the privacy statement? You insinuate that this statement "We share your personal data with your consent or as necessary to complete any transaction or provide any service you have requested or authorized. For example, we share your content with third parties when you tell us to do so, such as when you send an email to a friend" is in there - it is not. If you don't want to use their social network stuff, cloud services, search engine or email - don't. If you are worried about privacy then you better not use any bodies.

You got me there - I did not hit the "view more". However, let's parse this and see if this is really so "evil". All this says is that if you use one of their services and they need to provide data to someone else to provide that service than they do. How the F do you expect them to deliver an email to a friend if they aren't sharing the data you provided them (i.e. the original email) with that person (the third party). How the F to you expect them to make a financial transaction on your behalf (lick when you give them you credit card to make a purchase) if they don't provide that information to the bank or end supplier. Answer those two questions and then tell me how this is so "evil".

Keep drinking the Kool-Aid and believe its all for a better user experience. As stated above how many corporations do you know clamoring to put this product on their desktops? Are you now OK with content part since you use a MS acct?
This OS is one of the most intrusive yet. Here is a machine with no microsoft account, all the possible the data sharing, apps and privacy settings turned off by standard means without doing any registry tweaks. In a booted idle state it constantly makes a tunnel to MS uploading shit. And no this isn't MS updates as that shows up as something else. It also connects to live.com for some reason. Then doing what is supposed to be a local search for say a document on your machine that query goes back to them 2.733425000 192.168.0.197 65.55.83.120 TLSv1.2 246 Client Hello 12.795974000 65.55.83.120 192.168.0.197 TCP 1514 [TCP segment of a reassembled PDU] 12.795976000 65.55.83.120 192.168.0.197 TCP 1514 [TCP segment of a reassembled PDU] 12.795978000 65.55.83.120 192.168.0.197 TCP 1514 [TCP segment of a reassembled PDU] 12.795983000 65.55.83.120 192.168.0.197 TLSv1.2 701 Server Hello, Certificate, Certificate Status, Server Hello Done 12.796170000 192.168.0.197 65.55.83.120 TCP 54 55556→443 [ACK] Seq=193 Ack=5028 Win=262144 Len=0 12.836705000 192.168.0.197 65.55.83.120 TLSv1.2 412 Client Key Exchange, Change Cipher Spec, Encrypted Handshake Message 12.902552000 65.55.83.120 192.168.0.197 TLSv1.2 145 Change Cipher Spec, Encrypted Handshake Message 12.902669000 192.168.0.197 65.55.83.120 TCP 54 55556→443 [ACK] Seq=551 Ack=5119 Win=261888 Len=0 12.903794000 192.168.0.197 65.55.83.120 TLSv1.2 379 Application Data 12.618456000 192.168.0.197 204.79.197.200 TLSv1.2 459 Application Data 12.618846000 192.168.0.197 204.79.197.200 TLSv1.2 699 Application Data 155.650730000 192.168.0.197 192.168.0.1 DNS 87 Standard query 0x8f9f A sqm.telemetry.microsoft.com 155.667221000 192.168.0.1 192.168.0.197 DNS 154 Standard query response 0x8f9f CNAME sqm.telemetry.microsoft.com.nsatc.net A 65.55.252.93 401.482619000 192.168.0.197 192.168.0.1 DNS 72 Standard query 0x4514 A ssw.live.com 401.500006000 192.168.0.197 207.46.7.252 TCP 66 63692→80 [SYN] Seq=0 Win=8192 Len=0 MSS=1460 WS=256 SACK_PERM=1 401.562198000 192.168.0.197 207.46.7.252 HTTP 996 POST /UploadData.aspx HTTP/1.1 549.859217000 192.168.0.197 192.168.0.1 DNS 93 Standard query 0x8134 A v10.vortex-win.data.microsoft.com 549.881323000 192.168.0.1 192.168.0.197 DNS 227 Standard query response 0x8134 CNAME v10.vortex-win.data.metron.live.com.nsatc.net CNAME vortex.data.glbdns2.microsoft.com CNAME VORTEX-cy2.metron.live.com.nsatc.net A 64.4.54.254 549.882037000 192.168.0.197 64.4.54.254 TCP 66 63693→443 [SYN] Seq=0 Win=8192 Len=0 MSS=1460 WS=256 SACK_PERM=1 |

What does the hat do?
I was listening to Bernie the socialist on the radio tonight. He's pretty bummed about the way corporations are using personal info too. He made some good points I hadn't considered. I guess this could be considered a welcome change from discussing flat spots and ice.
