Over the Easter break my inlaws were kind of enough to take us to Hawaii. Up until recently, Windsurfing and skiing have been almost equal. A nice warm windy day IMO equals a powder day.
Maui is the Meca of windsurfing and kiteboarding. According to the locals I talked to, it is windy 350 days / year. Imagine having foot or more powder everyday. The main sailing and kiting beach is Kanaha.
I'm a pretty good windsurfer, I have my waterstarts wired and jibes are ok. I got my ASS kicked. I haven't sailed since last summer . The wind was honking with a decent swell and belly full of nerves..Kind of like starting the first day of skiing with waste deep powder down the steepest trail you could find. The rental guy set me up with a 4.8m sail and i was over powered. That said, I blew all my jibes but made all my waterstarts..I had the time of my life..Here's a few pics..
