I was just noticing that also...depressing...hopefully things will improve!

I don't really pay attention to weather unless there's a storm coming. I'm skiing every weekend from now until April regardless of conditions, so I can't really do anything about a bad stretch. That map doesn't look so great, though.

This guy went "south" on us a few days ago...



It was looking significantly different 5 days ago.

That GAP of "normal temps" in the east, did just open up since yesterday.

I'm with you Matt. I just can't do anything about it.  Hell I wish I could ski every weekend between now and April.

although the current long range is discouraging..it can change on dime..

It's because I'm not going to China for the next two weeks anymore. Sorry about that, guys.

It's snowing hard right now up here.

While it get warm the Low's every night are cold enough to make snow.  

It does seem that nationally it is setting up like last year - no snow in colorado but snow in the teton and farther north

FIS weather report is up.  Not bad at all.  Sun-Tuesday warmer but cold again by Wednesday.

calling for an easy 4-7 in the higher L by Saturday morning.

I dont know it looks pretty bad for most of Decemeber, maybe some hope around xmas.  Before that its warmer than normal with only brief in and out cold shots.

I met Herb Stevens tonight aka the skiing weatherman.

He said there is much more cold air up in western Canada than there was last year.

He felt confident that we aren't headed for a repeat of last season.

Is he posting his weekly weather forecasts anywhere this year? I've been diligently searching for his "weather missives" with no luck. I've always found his reports to be pretty reliable.

If you know anything, please let me know.

Herb has left snowcountry and wasn't exactly happy about the way it came down.  He's got a new gig that sounds pretty  cool  and will be doing extensive work with my favorite state of NY.  I'll post more on this soon I think.

I found him today on MassLive.com where he'll apparently be doing his weekly mountain reports, but it's his written outlooks I'd like to find!

that is it in a nut shell..except for the NW and the Sierra , the situation looks bleak..
 

Yesterday was the first time I've ever hunted deer in a t-shirt.....this ain't gonna be good.

"There is some real confusion beyond this little trough. The Climate prediction center has the AO going negative, the NAO going negative and trending towards neutral over the next 14 days while the PNA goes positive. That would overall support below average temps and more cold storminess in the EC. However, the models are now showing a warmer pattern with the mean storm track to our northwest, keeping the EC in the warm sector. That just doesn’t match up to me. So I’m throwing all the model data out if it extends beyond 12/10 right now."

Hopefully the models are wrong....
