It is a very small ski world.  Portillio should be on every hard core skiers life bucket list.

Pat - how about you try to stump us on this thread - you and James Deluxe have been even more places than I have.

Agree about Portillo being on a bucket list. Far from being my favorite in the Andes, but it has something that very little places have an Earth. It's like staying on a cruise ship away from everyone - instead on being surrounded by water; you are surrounded by mountains.

Stumping? I'm stump with the last picture. I could easily stump someone on ski hills in Quebec; I need to find a place that is known or that people heard of like Portillo.

Yes "cruise ship in the mountains" is the perfect way to explain the Portillio experience to someone that has not been there.  A little over a week removed from skiing and I just went and looked at the pricing to hit Portillio but I'm not sure that is in the budget for the year.  $3400 for the family including food is not bad on one of the kids free weeks but the $1200 each in air fare kills my buzz.

Pat - I'll bite - what is your favorite Andes ski experience?

as far as this photo goes my 1st guess is Mt Peter but the mountains in the background look too big for it to be down there so my guess is somewhere in the Catskills but where I don't know
