Harv

I only use my smartphone to view the site, not to post upload photos or anything (yet). If you're concerned about how it displays on a mobile device, there's a plugin that strips down the site to make text more easily viewable.

Peter ... plugin = Wordpress. Forum is not Wordpress.

TBatt.. the multiple pictures turning into one picture is a separate issue. Definitely a mobile problem that has to be deal with but not one this software change addressed.

I'm sensing that iPhone is less compatible that droid, but let us know as much as possible about your phone so we have a better chance at getting at the issues.

Freeheeln.. iPhone?  What model?

I recently got both an iPad and an iPhone.  The site works fine on my iPad.  I'm posting this from the iPad.

I had the issue of the upside down photos.  You need to make sure when you take photos on the iPhone to keep the volume control pointing down.

If you post directly from your phone it's no problem but if you first email the photo to a windows device and then post it will be upside down no matter what.  I think it's a bug done on purpose by apple.

Testing a new phone, some kind of droid:

Works OK but I don't like the way the keyboard gets in the way.

This post was updated on .
Trying to work on making NYSB responsive (better compatibility on mobile/small screens) this summer.

It would be a "fairly simple" job to do if we were starting from scratch.  The most complicated part is importing the existing FORUM content (text and images) and registration data. (Registration data  - meaning does everyone have to sign up again or would your existing forum logins work on the new forum software.)

Choices really are:

Leave the site as is, with no plan to work well on phones.
Move the forum to new software and import content and registration data ($$$).
Move to new software and start from scratch.

The second option is beyond my reach as it would be several thousand dollars.

If you are so inclined give your input:

How important is mobile compatibility to you?
How would you feel about losing three years of content and is it worth it to be mobile?
Would you reregister?

Thanks.

LOL Camp I think you'd be good with it if we moved to smoke signals.

LOL Camp thanks for the support.  Based on this scientific poll of Camp, all will stay as is.

Seriously there is now hope to bring over the content. One very smart forum member turned me on to a company that seems confident they can pull the content over for a few hunge.

Details to follow, input still welcome.
