Does this joke offend you? On the roof of a very tall building are four men; one is asian, one is mexican, one is black, and the last one is white. The asian walks to the ledge and says, "This is for all my people" and jumps off the roof. Next, the mexican walks to the ledge and also says, "This is for all my people" and then he jumps off the roof. Next is the black guy's turn. The black guy walks to the ledge and says, "This is for all my people" and then throws the white guy off the roof.

Nah. Doesn't offend me, but not a great joke.
Switch the black and the white guy at the end and it becomes pretty racist. Is that what you are going for? There is really smart racial comedy (Chapelle, Rock, Key & Peele) and there is dumb racial comedy (throwing a guy off a roof with no subtext or backstory). Also, gotta be careful about punching down as opposed to punching up. Even if the joke finished with throwing Kanye West (or Trump) off the building for "all the people", that would be fine (because you're picking on an entitled douchebag). But just a random dude? Nah.Not offensive to me (in the setup you presented), but not really funny. |
|
It shouldn't offend anybody. Now replace your smart comedy examples with white guys, is that racist? probably to you. (I like all those guys btw) In living Color Anyone?

Not at all! Louis CK does great racial humor! And everyone loved In Living Color. And if I've learned anything, it's that people get offended at the dumbest shit (like some football players kneeling for the flag). Good luck telling those offended people that their pet peeves "shouldn't offend anybody". |

I was young, but I don’t remember In Living Color being overtly racial humor. It certainly had a predominantly black cast and hip hop interludes.

Anybody remember a skit where the dorky white guy can't snatch the pebble from the kung fu master's hand? Then the black just walks up an grabs it like it's nobody's business. I thought it was In Living Color.

I'm just trying to figure out what you mean by PC. You seemed upset that the PC principal got on you for calling black people things: But when it comes to the anti-PC position of kneeling for the national anthem, you're rigidly opposed. Basically, you're okay with political correctness enforcing the norms you agree with (standing during the anthem, "respecting" gravesites), but vigorously opposed to political correctness if it interferes with your biases (you want to be able to call people thugs and drive the General Lee around). I've had this conversation with you before: http://forum.nyskiblog.com/Kapernick-sits-tp4087016p4088759.html |

You just got back up on your high horse didn't you.
Being a thug has nothing to do with color, rather everything to do with actions. |

This whole protesting racial inequality during the anthem at NFL games has exposed that different people can be snowflakes for different reasons.

Best post ever!!! And, goes back to the original point of this thread.
It's easy to be against something ... It's hard to be for something!

I have to agree.
