Old School vs New School

nepa
Doing some early season prep work.  Thought this was an interesting shot

'88 Blizzard V20 Hybrids (200 60 waist 87.5 tip)
'13 Icelandic Shamans (173 110 waist 160 tip)
This is the oldest and newest gear that I have.  I spent the Winter of 91/92 in Tahoe with the V20s.  It was sink or swim in epic proportions of Sierra Cement.  Unfortunately, on those skis,  I sank much more than I swam... ended up transitioning to a snowboard mid-season.  Didn't ride skis again for almost 20 years.

Exactly... when I started again on newer skis, I wished I had started back much sooner.

Ha.  The pic is not very sharp... you're definitely a gear connoisseur... you could identify the bindings just by shape.

Current lineup:

I'll be dumping the NRGY90's this year and getting these to replace them....

Basically the same ski as the NRGY but with metal

Lange XRI's circa 1990 vs 2012 BD Quadrants

I remember needing to allocate 30 to 45 minutes for taking the XRI's on an off.  With the Boa system, the BD's go on and off like loafers... not to mention you can practically run up & down stairs when these are in uphill mode.

We have come a long way in the past 25 years.
