Deer Season: Nov 16th
better than any WROD, anywhere, period |
Not for me! I only believe in baseball season, and ski season. And one ended early, while the other one is starting late. ARGH! |

Re: Gore's opening.
I know there has been some frustration about season passes not being ready. Personally I really like to have our passes in hand by opening day. We've all known that Whiteface and Gore have (had) different pass systems. Well it turns out Bell has the same system as Whiteface, so Gore is the one to switch. That's the issue. Gore hopes to start printing passes on Saturday. If you're a passholder who is at the mountain this weekend you should go to the Northwoods Lodge (with some ID I assume) and pick up a day ticket. With luck passes will be in hand by the following weekend < my speculation, not info from Gore. In the past on years when Jamboree was the opening day terrain, I've made the drive, and skied Whiteface on Saturday and Jamboree on Sunday. With the potential for a line for passes or tickets, and no clear idea of how to get a ticket at Whiteface, I'm probably going to stay put. It's a first world promise I realize, but it makes me sad. I've got a ton to do down here (leaves to rake!) so I guess I'm hangin. Some nice people working in the pass office at Gore.

If I go to Gore this weekend, it will solely be to pick up my pass so I have options next weekend (because Whiteface might be in better shape, and I don't mind making that drive). My other option is to skin Jay again. They're not opening this weekend, and if temps get above freezing, it could be a spring corn playground on 2 feet of base with no public and no cost out of pocket (besides gas). Mmmmm . . . |

Openings for the next couple weeks
This weekend (11/22 and 11/23): Stratton, Jay Peak, Sugarbush, and Sugarloaf. Thanksgiving Weekend (11/29 and 11/30) Hunter, Windham, Belleayre. (These are only my guesses, but based on the temperatures should be correct) Sorry that there is not much NY here and mainly Vermont. When the smaller mountains start opening in NY there will be much more New York information.
