Seems that the potential for this storm to bomb is what is causing the storm watches. What factors do forecasters use to predict bombogenesis, and how reliable (hard to predict) are they? In a case like this it seems it won't happen until it happens, or not at all. I can see that being a tough forecast even less than 24 hours out.

Exactly...Right now there is weak low pressure along a front. There is vorticity (spin/energy) in the upper atmosphere working it's way east. If these two phase/join up the low will intensify.. So it is a timing game since both pieces of the puzzle are moving..

The models have a terrible time with these scenario...

Ha! Hey, with forecasts like that at least he'll never be wrong!! Here's to hoping everyone has somewhere between 6 and 18 to play in tomorrow, even though I can't ski.

Hey Cornhead, not sure if this is about Glade or not. No question I've been holding a grudge.
