Storm Speculation: 2/5/14

The last couple of days I have been emailing  James and Harv about the potential for a Cats gulley washer. Like a politician the models flip flopped.. Now we have the potential for a significant coastal...This  could set the tone for the rest of Feb..  
still a week a way..

This is what NWS ALB has on it:

SUNDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY...

A sprawling area of high pressure builds in from the midwest and ohio valley with seasonably cold and dry wx. H850 temps will be in the -10c to -15c range...And these temps based on the latest gefs are near normal for early feb. Highs each day will be in the u20s to l30s in the valleys...And lower to m20s over the higher terrain...And lows will be in the single digits to teens.  

The sfc high crests over ny and new england on tuesday...As a complex storm system organizes over tx and the lower ms river valley.  This storm system will head to the northeast bringing some unsettled wx back into the fcst area for the mid week.  A mixture of pcpn types may occur depending on the track of the system.

A nice overrunning event for the Dacks and greens..My first guess is snow starting Saturday afternoon through Sunday late morning..3-6 inches..maybe a bit more if things slow down..

Hopefully there is no precip downstate this weekend since it too warm to snow.  That means r*in which will kill business and turn Mountain Creek into a skating rink overnight.

back to wed storm...the low look like it wants to cut across NY State. This scenario will bring moderate rains to the Cats and moderate to heavy snow for the Dacks and Greens..
There is some hinting that there will be redevelopment off the coast. If this happens fast enough the Cats might be spared a drenching..

still many days away , i'm sure there will be many changes..
We are now entering our prime snow months Feb and early March..

my son's about the same age as sno (15-16?) - if its' raining he's out lapping the bumps getting soaked, if its icy he's carving up some big gs turns, anything in between he's doing stupid shit in the park with his friends - all with a big goofy grin on his face.

I know he's got a little cutie up on the hill, now I'm really worried

I think he's 14..
