Summer Weather 2012

Boy it was nice this weekend. Warm, but low humidity, and a beautiful wind that banished the bugs.

The trail looks like a great winter route.  (More on this later in the week on the blog.)

when does ski season start?

My grandmother, may she rest in peace, up in Warrensburg NY used to think a heat wave was anything over 80 degrees.

101 degrees in Morris County NJ this afternoon.  A good day for a roller ski.

Be careful what you wish for. Looks like next week we could be struggling to get to low 60s in the Dacs with rain. I'll take the heat, at least here we can always find a cool clean waterbody to jump into and chill.

Central Dacs low 50's, wind and rain. Is this June 26th or October 26th? Sorry Harv, when it's summer I'll take the heat anytime. This is the kind of weather that is useless in Winter as well as Summer.

I'll take 95 in June over 80 in March. The beach is great.

It's the months with no "R"s. been so hot and muggy here you have to go in the river every half hour to cool off.

Very odd hearing reports from the Adks and SBRs report from the Hinterlands about the uncomfortable heat today. Here in the downtown flatlands it was almost cool with a stiff breeze much of the day. Maybe it was off the ocean.

Tied a record yesterday here in upstate NY, Binghamton. It was so hot, I went swimming at Chenango Valley State Park, I burned the bottoms of my feet on the concrete/rock walkway around the swimming area. They're a little sore today, don't ever remember doing that before. The water was surprisingly cooler than the end of last week due to recent rains. Luckily Winter is on it's way back..yeah, hope it actually snows this year...and Greek Peak opens. We've been pretty lucky so far this Summer compared to elsewhere in the US.

Maybe 75º water felt cold because the air was so warm in comparison?

I agree that the northeast has skated on the heat compared to the rest of the country. This was the latest we ever put our window AC in - July 1.  We've had maybe 10 uncomfortable days so far.

We just hit 101 here in north Jersey. There are lots of clouds around. I cannot wait for the t-storms. We just missed a few.
