Ted Ligety wins Historic 3rd gold at World Championships

endoftheline
Ted, Mr. GS, picked up his 3rd Gold today at the Worlds. This guy is amazing. Got gold first in Super G then in Super Combined, 2 events that he has never even won on the regular World Cup. Now as expected he wins gold in GS by another large margin, .81 over his nearest competitor. First Non European to win 3 Golds at a World Championship. Way to go Ted, USA, USA,USA!!!

Ted Ligety added a gold in the GS to his golds in the SG and super combined. His time in the race was 2:28.92. The silver was won by Marcel Hirscher with a time of 2:29.73.

The funny thing about the Championships is that there are tons of countries with skiers who don't normally qualify to race against the top in the world. Some of them were in a qualitying race that seemed to be shorter than the Champoinship race. The slowest finishing time was turned in by Canadian Michael Elliot Williams racing for Jamaica. His time was 4:09.82 and ranked 96. He is a full minute behind the guy from India who came in 91st (3:09.32). The fastest non qualifying run was 2:30.

The slowest finisher in the actual race was 3:00.42. That is over 30 seconds behind Ligety.I am sure there are some people on this board who could do better than that. We just need to find you a country to represent.
