Hi ml.  Here's a couple.  Like Warp said, lot's of room to play, but Mother Nature holds the cards . . . can't get the groomers & snowmakers in there.  She's being real generous at the moment however.

Hi Glade Runner. Thanks for posting. Fair question. Not sure what you've heard, how far away you live or what your skiing preferences are. Here at Titus, we try to focus on those things that we know we can be good at & the thing that we believe we're best at is delivering a great on-mountain experience at a great value. That being said we also know that we're not going to be everybody's "cup of tea" . . . folks who prefer the flavor of Mad River Glen probably won't show-up here. The most useful information probably comes from people who have actually been here. These links should help you make a more informed decision about making the trip: http://www.onthesnow.com/new-york/titus-mountain/reviews.html# http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g48102-d2527889-Reviews-Titus_Mountain-Malone_New_York.html We would love the opportunity to welcome you to our mountains!

Thanks for the personal reply.  I think what scares me off is how far away it is for a smaller mountain.  Are you open daily?  Do you have glades?  Any policy on off trail skiing?  I may have to check it out it sometime If I get the chance.

We are open 7 days-a-week. Be advised however that all 3 mountains normally operate Fri.-Sun. & throughout all holiday periods. We have lots of glades. These appear in orange on our trail map at TitusMountain.com

Sorry, Glade Runner.  Hit the post button too soon.  Here's a link to our trail map:
http://www.titusmountain.com/ski-ride/trail-map
Roll your cursor over the image & you'll get a zoomed cell on the right.  Try it . . . it's fun!
Regarding "off-trail" skiing, its really not possible if your not in a glade . . . the forest is too dense.

Re: Titus Mountain Conditions

Hey Titus : tell your mountain manager to have a daily grooming report POSTED in each of the lodges . Today we saw carnage on one of your NOT Forever Wild trails that was left in an ungroomed manner . the problem was the lead into Titusville Express ( a non Forever Wild trail ) was groomed BUT Onlt to the headwall. This confused several customers into thinking the trail was groomed . It wasnt , rhere was 20 inches of powder and there were bodies all ovee the damn hill.

If you are going to now. Leave supposedly NOT Forever Wild trails in THAT state POST a GROOMING report in. Each lodge .

Today all Upper Mountain trails were not groomed except Sundance and River Run

Suggest a half groom on Titusville Express if pow day is in order and then leave Daviids and th other 3 foreverwild trails on the upper ungroomed

people could have been seriously injured .

Former Managemnt ALWAYS POSTED GROOMING REPORTS ON THE DOOR OF BOTH UPPER AND LOWER LODGES .........FOOD FOR THOUGHT AND ACTION

Hi Warp,

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns.  Maybe it would be good if we got that much snow regularly so we could get good at dealing with it.  Our GM extends his sincere apologies & we're all grateful that no one was seriously injured.

Last Friday was a bit crazy (as you know firsthand) and our groomers were pressing hard to get Mother Nature's bounty under control.  Some of our regulars were lobbying to leave as much of the terrain alone as possible since we don't get those kinds of conditions very often.  Our GM made the decision to leave the Express headwall ungroomed, thinking that would make the powder-hounds happy & also free-up the groomers to attack other areas sooner.  We should have had Patrol mark the top of the headwall but in the rush to get things done, that didn't happen.  Your suggestion to groom half of the headwall is good one.  We have done that before & we will do it again.

Our procedures call for us to post trail reports at multiple locations each morning.  We will review compliance with those requirements and take corrective action as required.  There is no substitute for good communication.

Thanks again for your constructive criticism.  We look forward to having you (& the rest of your crew) back on the mountain later this week.  Gonna be a little chilly . . . but the surface should be awesome!
