Yeah. Of course the had to be maybe 70 year old volunteer trail steward who beat our group up the mountain informing us that Cascade is the easiest of the 46 kind of diminished the sense of accomplishment!

Blah, blah, blah...it's supposed to be the easiest, closest to town and touristy, but it's one damn gorgeous view from the top, isn't it? Nice that you did it with the entire family. Well done!

Today it was the cheaters version of Whiteface, as hiking days go. First we cheated and hit the Whiteface Summit via the Highway.
![]() Spectacular views.... ![]() ![]() A Slide for the future? ![]() We the continued our cheating ways by hitting the Little Whiteface Summit via the Gondola. ![]() The boys and I did accomplish some real hiking, exploring the ski area by foot for 3 hours. First a trip up to the summit, then a quick trip out to the Slides, followed by a summit to base down climb via Cloudspin, Lower Skyward, Weber’s, Victoria, Easy Street, Boreen. All in all a really fun day on the mountain. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

In answer to my question last week......yes, there is a marked hiking trail from the top of the Summit Quad to the Whiteface Summit. Steep, narrow and rocky with some fixed ropes, but well travelled.

The Crown Jewel of the East Cascades... my pics don't do it justice, but this video gives a great overview. If you come out here, and only see one thing, it should be the Enchantments.

Fantastic area, the Hurricane Wilderness. Did the Nun Da Ga O ridge w/ Big Crow over Weston yesterday. About a five hour trek and wow the views from Giant to Dix to the Great Range to Sentinel Range to WF were spectacular. Had to chuckle imagining all the Cascade peeps. Passed less than 20 people over six miles on the herd path, and half them were in the first mile to Big Crow.
