Whiteface Conditions (2012-2013)

I think it's gonna be really icy and shitty tomorrow.  You should go to Gore.

I should, but I'm skiing with some peeps up there.

Also, I think it's going to be pretty crowded because there'll be 300 people there for the PSIA "Spring Rally". Not really Ideal, but what can I do?

Wow, 300 people?  All at one time?!?!  I dunno where they'll put 'em all.  

I didn't really want to ski tomorrow anyway.  I'll just go to Gore instead.

I just got back from Silverton. there were 19 people on the mountain . . . It was awesome.

Good but not great today.  The wind did a number on the new snow and it was a mixed bag of firm and soft sometimes on the same turn.

CC glades were best of day for me.  Snowfield trees into Skyward was not a close 2nd

Hey Matt, I think I may have seen you.  TX Pros?   You were a ways off getting on a chairlift.  Scotty said he saw you earlier and you were a pretty ripping skier.  The wind hammered the place pretty hard but when you found where the snow had blown it was pretty good.  I thought Cloudspin was the pick of the day.  A lot of snow up there.

I think, conditions, in general, have been fantastic this week everywhere (where still open).
Both at Whiteface on Thursday and at Gore today I enjoyed the best winter-like spring skiing.

Funny but upper cloud was closed.

It sucks being on staff as it limits poaching closed stuff that others then call the trail of the day

SUPERSLIDE Day!  WOW!!  It was a great one!   

Yeah, I couldn't tell if Scotty was f-in with me about Cloud. I've been on that trail with marginal cover before and there are some sharp ass rocks.

I do have TX Pros. I'm decent. There are a lot of good skiers at WF, and they're all out in the open (as opposed to Gore where most of them are hiding in the Trees). Unfortunately, I broke my NTN bindings again, so I had to switch to my Alpine skis (with my NTN boots) for a few runs today.

They opened the slides briefly too, which was fun. I did 2 and cut over to the left when 3 came in. A little bony in some spots but nice pow pockets in others... Pics:

Huck in my past . .. my back is to slide out . . .

It was pretty damn fun. I love to see them open because everytime someone skis the slides for the first time, they are stoked and they can't wait to tell you how awesome it was - even total strangers. Really cool.
