Interesting day today. We got to the mountain at 10:30, letting the snow and r*^n stop, knowing things would be firm early. First couple runs were Excelsior. Firm and crunchy, yet edge able....with cold, windy conditions on the LWF summit. Each run the point at which you hit the creamy corn moved further up the mountain. Hit Mountain Run just before noon, soft spring goodness. Next ride up the LWF chair we decided to check Northway, and patrol was just dropping the rope. It needed another hour or two, as at 12:30 it was firm frozen slush, and not much fun. Our last two runs of the day, season actually, were creamy spring perfection on Northway. Mountain skied great today, should be spectacular tomorrow once it softens up.
Summit never opened today, as I suspect it never softened. After that noon run on a frozen Northway I can say Skyward wouldn't have been much fun. The headwall is passable, hopefully the weather cooperates tomorrow. Today the sun and softening further up didn't come until after 1:00. Should be earlier tomorrow. Very good end to the season. Thank you WF. |

Absolutely stellar way to finish up the season
I waited a bit to head to the mt and let things soften up. It was a good decision as there were still frozen chicken heads on wilderness at 9:30 Summit did not open until about 10:30 as it was in the teens overnight. Timed it perfect as the first run down on the Niagara section was as perfect corn as you can get. Skied until my legs were toast and had a last beer on the deck. Great way to end the season! ![]()

As said earlier on this site, spring skiing at The Face is second to none. It sure is, but I still have ended up at Kmart more often since they are open later. After this weekend, Kmart will not be seeing me as much in the spring.
I've lived in New York my entire life.

Bummer, I was hoping to catch it Sunday. There is plenty of snow, was the decision because of the weather forecast for the weekend? I am waking up in NH with planned hopes of Tucks but going with the backup plan of KMart, WF would have been a great end for the weekend.
But there are still turns to be earned ![]()
