Wilmington and Lookout open tomorrow.  The Wait is over.

Pic taken from Whiteface fb page.

Looks like they didn't wait for the snow to drain before grooming, but will leave the guns on through the weekend to keep it fresh and build up the base for it to last into the spring.

Assuming the weather is still good for snowmaking, Hoyt's and LBO should follow next week.

This whole fuss was over a blue groomer run? That's so weird.

Go build a gap jump over that cat track from the big boulder on the left there Sno and report back later.

Just because you are spoiled and bored by anything groomed and less than 50 degrees doesn't mean that other skiers won't have fun with them.

Wilmington Trail is a very unique run with arguably the best views of any trail in the east, even though it may not be the hardest thing out there.  It also gains access to SVG and LBO, and Hoyt's can open too.

Why does everyone have to have such strong opinions?  I personally like the Wilmington Trail, and I'm building a bis ass gap jump this weekend too. It's all fun stuff.

They started making snow on Hoyt's last night.  How long does it take for that to open?  Maybe Sunday under the guns?

How do they handle staffing of that lift?

I don't think you could hire more lifties specifically for that purpose as you won't retain anyone offering 2 months of employment.

I'm guessing that at this point, they can get some lifties from snowmamking because that's all winding down at this point.

Hopefully there aren't staffing issues that would affect the LWF lift because it'll be busy with ESG happening.

Sno, How can you call it "your home mountain" if you don't know how the lifts are staffed?Just teasing. They will run the summit quad, little whiteface, lookout, Gondi, face, freeway and the others.

It's my home mountain and I know it well, but not all the ins and outs like some.

Are you grilling tomorrow?  I'll stop by mid if you are.

So it looks like Whiteface and Gore are both hitting full stride at the same moment in February.

Sno, what is the grade?  Do you get marked down a full grade per week beyond Jan 1?  Is there a curve?

At this point, it's pretty much pass fail.  All key lifts open is a pass, and key lifts closed is a fail.

Key lift is defined as a lift that is the primary or only one serving a terrain section.  For example, the Gondola, Facelift, Summit, Lookout, and Bear Den lifts are what I consider to be the key lifts at Whiteface.  I do not consider Mixing Bowl, Bear, Freeway, LWF, and Mountain Run to be key lifts.  Mixing Bowl and Bear are redundant with the Facelift for the exact terrain they serve, and redundant with Bear Den for learning terrain.  LWF, Mt Run, and Freeway are redundant with the gondola.  Facelift serves the same terrain that the gondola does, but provides access to ability levels that the gondola doesn't and is a major access point, so it's a key lift.

If you don't consider LWF a key lift ... you still have much to learn.

Hey Sno, can you remove the link to the Petition site? Its silly, and Lookout is opening tomorrow and guns are running now on Hoyts.

The first part I like. It pertains to a lot of ski areas across the NE. Windham is one of those.

Management doesn't consider it a key lift, because they don't run it midweek.

During my first ride up the Lookout chair tomorrow, I will be taking it down.  I just have to see for myself that it's open before it happens.

IDK, the report card you refer to Harv was for Christmas open terrain. That's way past. Maybe the next Sno-Report Card will be a midseason grading. Seems fair 'nough.

Deliver the mid-season goods Sno, (prior to President's week would be great for people).

I suspect you have following with this. Run with it.
