Is there a ski hill on Nantucket Island?

Watching all this snow wasting itself by falling outside my window is killing me, sitting here in the Flatlands.

Go to the Catskills, I urge it; go further north. You could open the Ski Bowl; you could open Lookout. Or even humble, forlorn Esopus.

It is killing me.

The temp this morning at 7am was 22F. It has now dropped to 14F at 2:20pm. It has been lightly snowing since about 9am and there might be 1-1/2 inches on the ground. There are occasional gusts, but nothing serious yet.

At 3:11 the snow just shifted to a higher gear and visibility has dropped from about 500 ft to 300ft. The temp is now 13F.

Clear as a bell here in the Hinterlands. Forecasted low tonight is -35 C, translating to -31 F. No wind, so no wind chill.

Yes, -35c it is. Polar vortex my ass.  It's old skewl f'n cold.

as of now 2-4 saturday than brutal cold on sunday

a few clippers coming over the next week or so reinforcing colder air each time.  Looks like the bulk of the early snow is down by Jason but this weekend looks interesting.  A repeat of last weekend would be nice...a few inches of pow on Sunday at Gore then Monday at WF.  This weekend Sat WF and Sun Gore...there is a good chance of freshies both days.  Just not deep.

If this latest rain consolidated the snow pack then that is a good thing, but the issue will be slab formation from anything new as we are headed for the deep freeze. I need to get some time to get to some of my favorite places and dig a few snow pits and see how it's set up. At this point though it looks like we may have to wait for spring corn to come.
