A-Frame life... :)

dmc_hunter
After Hurricane Irene we've been working on moving closer to the ski area and found a sweet A-Frame...

Stoked - it's pretty nice.. Classic A-Frame - 2 bedrooms and loft but finished basement with a bar..
Small but so comfortable compared to our drafty farm house..  And away from the freaking creek too. Moving up near the ski area will put us in a place where we're surrounded by skiers and second homes.   Right now we are in the valley and are in a more "local" area with full time rentals and long time residents not part of the ski thing. Going to be great to be able to walk to the lift and back from happy hour..

The dream gets closer..  Until I can retire this is it...  :)

Nice D

I love me some A-Frame

Funny you mention this. Just yesterday I wrote a letter to a lady who owns an abandoned A-frame near GP asking her if she would like to sell. Time will tell. My current house is truly bigger than what I need so I'm looking to downsize. Hopefully she'll respond.

Re: A-Frame life... :)

I copied the following 3 paragraphs from my own reply to a snowjournal thread about a-frames from a while back:

My wife, our then 7 month old, our dog and I lived in one for 8 months back in 2002. I definitely signed the lease in the throes of nostalgia for the warm and cozy ski vacation vibe that the place gave off.

It would make a great ski weekend home, but it was not all that practical for our small family's primary home. It was a tiny place with super steep roof pitches all the way down. No closet or pantry space, teeny bedrooms, tiny electric water heater in nearly inaccessible crawlspace that needed to be regularly reset. It had a super tight spiral staircase that rose right out of the kitchen countertop.

I do have fond memories of being able to walk from the back woods right up to Crane Mountain. And of my daughter taking her first steps on the shag carpet. But we abandoned the woods for the small town sidewalks and convenience and we've been townies ever since.

* actually looks like Cork Nester still has this one listed for sale on his website.

Congrats dmc!

This one's been updated a bit...  It has closets downstairs..
We currently don't have closets in our 110 year old farm house...  :)

We need to replace the heating at some point..  Floors... Maybe bump out the roof where the kitchen is...

My gal said " What a cute little ski chalet! ".

Then I asked her if she wanted to go shovel you out. She declined.

yeah.. we're in no rush to move in right now...
We have some work to do on it with what we have saved... Floors - Electricity - Heating system..
Then we have more work after we sell our current home...  regrade...  Kitchen... Bathroom...  Maybe another bumpout...
