You bring up a good point. The fact that the state has decided to get involved in the ski business is interesting. But it's like anything else in NY. There's tons of state funded programs. Some of which are huge. Medicaid for example. Many will argue that the state has no business being in the insurance industry and that it should be left in the hands of private sectors. The SUNY system is also a HUGE state funded system that manages to cut tuition costs on average 1/2 that of most private schools.
I'll have to be honest, at this stage of my life, the NY taxpayer system has worked only in my favor. That will probably change before long. I'm the last to say I agree with the state politics, I'm just saying that's how it is. It's nothing new. Good luck trying to tell the Gov there's anything he shouldn't get involved in. It's almost like socialism vs. free enterprise we're dealing with here.
At the end of the day, both days I skied Gore this season were AWESOME.
I'll take boilerplate ice over wet snow any day
