So the lesson we can glean from this is to always keep one's skis on....

I took a mean digger in the lot last weekend, fortunately the only thing I hurt was my ego  I was telling my buds on the lift how sucky it would be to explain that one, "well it happened skiing, however I wasn't actually skiing..."

I use these when I'm doing trail work in the fall as well. Don't want to get hurt *before* the season even starts!

Last year, 3 months after 3 knee surgeries I was able to snowshoe up to Tuckerman's Ravine in March for an avalanche course. I was so proud of myself for making the hike without any incident when I tripped on my shoelace in the parking lot and did a huge face plant. Luckily no further injury for me other than some scrapes and a bruised ego.

Got'em and a nice set of Grivel crampons. A freak accident can happen at any time, the pisser is that this should have just resulted in a bruise.  

Thanks for all the well wishes and thoughts. Tucks in April is my goal now - corn snow, that is if the healing process proceeds as it should.
