Good article ADK. So, yet again they're unable to pay their taxes. Reoccuring theme, plus utilities, etc. Not very inspiring. I wouldn't lend them money.

Maybe these guys, including Front Street, got all hyped up during the real estate boom and saw a castle in the sky without realizing " Hello, it's a bubble about to burst ". Greed and inflated egos do that to people.

the problem with this in depth investigation in ADK exlporer magazine is that they are high slanted to the granola cruncher left wing crowd.  Every issue has an ad from the organization intent on stopping the Tupper project.  its essentially like MSNBC slant towards the left or Fox towards the right politcally on TV.  You just can't take everything they publish without not questioning what their axe is to grind in issue
A true measure of a person's intelligence is how much they agree with you.

I respectfully disagree (I guess that makes me UNtelligent according to your tagline). You're condemning them because of the ads they accept? Really? Short of rejecting ads from the KKK or NAMBLA, no print periodical can be that choosy. They do a better job than most at presenting all sides of an issue. And no sentient being should take as gospel anything they read or hear.

Do you have any cogent examples to support your characterization that ADK Explorer is "high slanted to the granola cruncher left wing crowd"???

Reminds me of that chip factory that AMD was going to build below Saratoga that so many pinned their hopes on. Did they ever build that thing? It's all I would ever heard about when I lived there, and, all the while, I would think, why in the world would someone build a chip factory in upstate NY? But, in the end, it was all about Hope.
Yup, that's definitely going nowhere.

Yes, it's only the largest manufacturing plant being built in the US at this time.

We'll see. As a famous New Yorker once said, it ain't over 'til it's over. It took nearly a decade to build, and needed zillions of Joe Bruno's dirty incentives to get off the ground. There may be a good reason AMD dumped their manufacturing arm into the world's favorite garbage bin of financing, stupid middle eastern money.  Global Foundries - brought to you by the same people who gave you Dubai, and million dollar condos on shifting sand bars that are a far cry from a million dollars these days.

Dude, it's a done deal.  Massive construction is already ongoing and it starts operation in '12.

What I'm getting at is that it's funded by the same folks who brought you the tallest building in the world that sits half empty on shifting sand back in the home country. As I said, just because you build it, don't count on people coming. That manufacturing can easily be shifted to the far east in a flash.

I don't think the manufacturing can be moved easily. These fabs are VERY expensive to build so once it's built the owners are very incented to use it.

In hindsight, after the tragedy in Japan it probably makes business sense to have a plant that far from others.

Japan is hurting. They're gonna take more reactors off-line.
