Coach, you've become a real horse racing expert. That's pretty good for only going to the track twice.

He is the first Grand Slam winner because the Breeders Cup didn't start until 1984. Before AP the last triple crown winner was Affirmed in 1978.

Great horse...no doubt, but not the greatest of all time. That would be  Secretariat.

I used to go to other tracks and watch all the big races on tv.  Going to Saratoga reminded me how much I now enjoy it.  If it was closer I'd go more often.

Of course HPD is right that he AP is the first horse to have the opportunity.
I wondered if  Secraterient also would have done this but he suffered some losses after the triple crown and he didn't fare well against older horses based on the below
