Everest....living in a tent, no running water.  The whole area sounds like a big dump to me.

60 pounds of waste left behind on average from each climber may not be a metric shit-ton but it’s still quite the crap load.

There was an early chapter in the book Into Thin Air which described the disgusting sanitary conditions at base camp after which any faint desire to climb everest vanished from my brain.  

I think they've gotten themselves into a real fecal. (Sorry - that was a stretch)

Imagine spending 60k on an Everest attempt and then getting sick at base camp to never make the summit. That would be a serious case of "shitting the bed."
