Sunday morning was sunny and a balmy 8 degrees F with no wind. We parked at the Discovery Lodge (lower). It is usually less crowded than the Overlook Lodge.
Belleayre has a wonderful, self-contained green area of about 11-12 green trails. Lifts 1 and 2 are 3800 feet long with about 500 feet of vertical. Both sides of the double double were running.
The lower green trails were all beautifully groomed cord
Belleayre has let many blue trails bump up, including skier's left on Belleayre Run under the Superchief HSQ
View at the top of Onondaga, Winisook to the left
There are great views from all the trails - Roaring Brook
Enjoying some low angle packed powder moguls
Tomahawk Crossing provides access to the looker's right side of Belleayre.
The fixed grip Tomahawk Quad serves about 15 empty trails including the long blue Deer Run
The double diamond Lift Line Glades under the Tomahawk Quad
Top lift station of Highmount Ski Center, closed since the early 1990s
Deer Run
The excellent black diamond Dot Nebel
By mid-afternoon the clouds rolled in and it started snowing.
Last run down Mohican to the Discovery Lodge
We managed to ski right on to all the lifts all day. The conditions were spectacular packed powder and despite the full parking lots, the trails were uncrowded to empty. We are excited to return soon.
