Killington is now open for the season.

ORDA is trying to drum up some sales. From the Whiteface FB page...

" Whiteface Mountain Attention Potsdam Students! Whiteface Mountain will be on campus in the Barrington Student Union from 10am to 4pm November 11, 2010 offering a Whiteface / Gore full seasons pass to students for a special rate. You must be a full time Potsdam Student to take advantage of this one time offer. "

From the website:

"Get ready to Tap Into Winter for the 2010-2011 Ski Season on November 13th, our anticipated opening date. Belleayre will again be offering our traditional opening day rate of $25 tickets and we will be having our annual Tap Into Winter Party if we are skiing and riding or not! Hopefully if Mother Nature cooperates, we will even have a couple of rails to jib on! Come on out and celebrate our favorite season with like-minded people! The Tap Into Winter Party happens whether we are open or not, so come on up to the mountain ... See you on the slopes!"

Doesn't look like the webcam(s) is/are working. James, Jason, anybody... what does Bell traditionally open first?

In the past Bell has posted ridiculously early opening dates, that are never met. Same thing will happen this year too.
A more realistic open day would be late nov.

They usually open chair 7 to mid station. To access Onteora...

Belle (like Gore) does not have a web cam.

This was the page that fooled me:

http://www.belleayre.com/winter/cams.htm

Next to the phantom cam it says:

"view from the Upper Overlook Lodge facing Belleayre Run, Wanatuska and Yahoo!"

X ... how much would it cost to put a webcam at the top of the Gore Gondi? I may take up a collection.

I don't know the cost, but WF does it. ORDA does it. I know looking at the indoor rink sitting unused is exciting. Kind of like looking at the convention building. Maybe they can take the convention cam and put it at Gore once the building is done.

I would contribute to the cam fund. They need one at the main base pointing at the Gondi and the HST. I would put another one on the top terminal of the Gondi pointing at SB/DB/Rumor. The 3rd would be at the base of the NC Ski Bowl. But since the marketing manager thinks a quick visual visit is bad for business, we still lack a cam. I guess most other ski areas are wrong. During the season I only check the places I ski multiple times per day. You need to ask M Pratt when will he join the 1990s and add a cam.

Technology hurts their heads at Gore. Skiers shouldn't have too much information. For the same reason, there is no weather station on Gore with a display on their website.
