What a great thread! Sorry, I haven't been on here in a while. For the record, I started a new job back in January with a mechanical contractor doing electric, plumbing and HVAC work which occupied most of my attention.
To the original question, my vote would be "other". I personally never had the desire to run away looking for the perfect ski bum lifestyle. I just embrace the opportunities at hand. For me it was simply go work for someone who respects the ski bum lifestyle, work as much as possible, and when I took my first day off to go skiing at Killington this past April, my boss was like "yeah, whatever man, I ain't worried about it, go have fun!" Now, I'm not saying I'm gonna abuse this privelidge, but it certainly is nice to work for someone who understands the lifestyle, and I even occasionally run into on the slopes.
I'll take boilerplate ice over wet snow any day
