I see what your saying now

There's a difference between being an authorized user vs signing a bank contract. No bank I'm aware of will give a kid a loan based on being an authorized cc user. Kid will need a co-signer unless he's a college grad. College grads have programs they can qualify for as long as they meet the requirements, and have no negative credit history.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Maybe my wording was unclear.

It's really a flawed system --- Like Harv's boss said the bank will loan you money when you really don't need it.

Rates are climbing as well --- back in the early 90's 14% was a good rate for a car loan. Can you imagine that? People were happy to get that rate back then.

When my grandpa passed we learned he had a 30 year treasury bill paying 17%!

Have the days of credit card companies having tables set up in the Student Union disappeared?  I got a couple of credit cards before I graduated college, cards I have (paid off, in use) to this day.  They helped me in financing my degree, but that debt, on top of student loans, was a drag.

I'll bet the cost of the loan back then - principal & interest - is very close to the cost of a loan now.  Especially for houses.  You pay the piper one way or the other.

I’ve learned this too but I tend to like learning things the hard way. Ugh.

I’m about to be employed and excited to start paying off my student loan debt. An FYI so you guys don’t think I’m trying to still be a dirtbag at 43. :D

Thanks!

It’s trail building! The gig is 16 weeks but hopefully I can get full time work until our trail Faeries group figures out funding.

If I get hired on after the initial gig I probably won’t be skiing much next winter. I’d most likely be traveling to warmer locations for building. I think I’m ready for that. I’ve done plenty of skiing this lifetime.

Awesome news RA. Hopefully it goes the way you want. I’ll bet your “not skiing much” adds up to as many days as I got this year so I wouldn’t worry about that too much

Congrats RA!  It doesn’t get much better than getting paid to do what you love.
