I made it to Hunter on 11/29 for opening day. HBK/Mainline was open top to bottom as well at Mossy Brook and Central Park North. The lifts were Kaatskill Flyer, B-Lift, C-Lift, and D-Lift. HBK had the best conditions by far, the other two were kind of icy all day. After waiting for 40 minutes I made it on first chair, and here's the picture to prove it. I am second over from the left.
This is my picture on the lift. I am second over from the left.
After the formalities we went up the lift.
The conditions were the best I have seen for any opening weekend I have been to. There were no lift lines either.
Snowmaking was in full force on a few parts of the mountain. Mainly on Belt Parkway, Hunter One, and the Terrain Park. Luckily no guns were on the open trails.
The upper mountain was in the fog because of the snowmaking efforts on Belt Parkway
Conditions were great on 7th Avenue. There was nice fluffy dry snow that was freshly made.
Kennedy was great also.
Lots of good snow in this picture
Like I said earlier, Belt was being blown at full capacity, every single gun was going. The progress can be seen from the D-Lift.
Hunter One was open with Central Park North, served by C-Lift. On my way down there I took this picture of the main mountain.
Lots of ice on the closed E-Lift.
Looking down Central Park North.
Grand Concourse is next on the snowmaking list.
G2 has been removed an replaced with a magic carpet.
Another view down Central Park North
It became a bluebird day later.
With Hunter open, I am now skiing on a weekly basis. This was the best opening day I have ever attended. The conditions were almost perfect and the crowds were low. I am looking forward to another great season at Hunter Mountain.
I've lived in New York my entire life.
