I love Ronnie, I have seen DIO many times, that little bastard never disappointed.. I've mentioned this before that his son is a meteorologist in the Bing office..
Ronnie Padovona babysat for my family in Cortland when he was in high school, no joke.
Many, many, people have fond memories of the guy. He was truly a nice person.
He and my Dad were in band together while in HS.
Johnny West, another local rocker, tells how Ronnie gave him his home phone number when he moved out to LA to join Badlands. He says how Ronnie would critique his performances from backstage while watching the monitors.
So many stories around of people having beers with Dio, Dave "Rock" Feinstein (dios cousin), and Ozzy in Rocks restaurant, The Hollywood (still an icon here in town).
Westy introduced me to him. He offered to make me a sandwich and have a glass of wine ---- what a hoot.
He's credited for being the first to give the Metal Horns
Long Live Metal!
JD --- that's cool
Jason, you ever see The Rods with Feinstein and crew???

Here's another family brush with Cortland music greatness -- in the early 80s, my brother (a guitarist) was at Falso's Music with my grandfather checking out equipment and all of the sudden it sounded like they were in a concert hall with a loud heavy-metal band (my grandfather covered his ears). The owner took them to the onsite rehearsal space and they watched The Rods rehearse: a private concert. Yeah!

Shit yes! Al Falso
I went to school with his son, Enzo Falso. Real nice Irish guy
Man I remember being a kid and we would go watch The Rods like it was our job.

I was like that with John Valby/Dr. Dirty, must've seen him 20 times in high school (fake ID!) and can still remember most of his material to this day. Was a huge fan of Mr. Edd and the Mossback Mule Band -- have you ever heard of them? The CNY music scene back then was fantastic; I never knew how good it was until I moved to Denver/Boulder, where it sucked!
I never have heard of them but a quick google search and it seems they're still around with quite a faithful following. From what I read they've been playing around CNY since the 70's. I'll be sure and keep an eye out, if they ever play near by I'd love to check them out.
I dig the name, Mr. Edd and the Mossback Mule Band
