Boot advice needed

Petronio
Purchased new Dalbello boots for my 16yo daughter.  Boots fit well and were comfortable in the shop.  When skiing after a couple of hours, she was in some pain in the area around the protruding part of the fibula (the ankle knob).  She says it hurt more when she was standing than when she was actively skiing.

I don't know whether this is the boot breaking in or whether I need to take her to a boot fitter.  (Never had this kind of problem with rental boots.)  We purchased them at Ski Haus in Wappingers.  We are trying to head up to Gore today -- anyone in or near North Creek?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Petronio

The best is to take them and have them fit to her. Until you can, try and put a little heel lift under the liner to see if that helps. If they aren't bad while skiing I would assume it's  because she's farther forward in them. Lifting the heel will put her farther forward from the get go.

call around to the ski shops up there.  See if any of them have the ability to heat and blow the boot out.  Its a ten minute job.   Have her put the boot on and tap the side with a little hammer so you can mark it right where it needs to be stretched.

You are going to drive right by Sportspage in Queensbury.  Richard is the boot whisperer.

Head in there and they will get them comfortable for you.

What Z said.

If you can't get to the shop where you bought them, Sports Page is the best choice near Gore.  I don't know Richard, but my friends all like Gary.

Your feet will fall off before your boots break in. My default emergency method is to tape over the hot spot, which works way better than you think it does, but you really can't fix them until you know what the cause is.
