Craig Dostie on Josh Madsen
http://www.earnyourturns.com/33919/burning-tele-down/ I met Josh at the 40th Telefest. Dude is committed. He is all over social media. Has a shop in Salt Lake-Freeheel life.
Tele turns are optional not mandatory.

Dostie needs to look in the mirror and step up Earn Your Turns! His content is seriously lacking, and he should take a lesson from Lou Dawson and our buddy Harv on how to put out a blog
Gotta go to know

Madden is definitely a hard worker. I went to a bar in Albany to support him on his countrywide tour of a Telemark movie that he shot and produced mostly by himself. He got into the bar (might have been a coffee house, I don't remember) because he also plays guitar and gave a bit of a concert afterwards. Gotta admire someone who is so committed to something.
Now that the Meatheads aren't producing movies anymore, I think there's a market for an eastern version of the same idea. It would be fun as hell to go to the Tele Meccas of the east (Gore, MRG, backcountry areas, etc.) and shoot ripping Tele skiers on familiar terrain. And then it would be fun to your around in the fall, mountain biking and trying to get ski bars to play the movie. I toy with doing such a thing, but I don't really want to spend money to buy the expensive camera equipment I'd need to make the movie look good. Anyway, to the broader point, Telemark is dead, long live telemark. There will always be people who want to make the telemark turn and I will always be there to help teach it and promote it. |

Mattchuck,
Give us a break, of course you will find a way to travel Ski Country and promote and coach knee dipping tree fairies from the East Coast to the Left Coast. It's in your DNA, plus you have a comparative advantage over the garden variety free-heeling Guru; Ace. As we all look forward to miles of smiles this winter, the what-if comes back; maybe I will relearn how to Telemarket, if you loan me some well-loved gear to play on. Just sayin'. All the best to you and yours. Ski you on the hill, 64ER and Wowie |
Met a new telemarker at my local hill today. He is 18 and his dad is a huge tele guy, said he grew up on telemark and his dad refused him from doing that "alpine bullshit". He ripped to say the least. It's been spreading here in the Midwest!

Burn 'em if you got 'em! 64ER, how'd you like that snowboarder falling down Open Pit on Sunday? |

Nothing against telemarking, but anyone who calls it "alpine b.s." probably rides a horse to the hill and cooks on his house's source of heat.
Sent from the driver's seat of my car while in motion.

That's funny reading that "Alpine Bullshit" line. I skied alpine today for the first time this season after 12+ days this season and 6 tele days in a row, simply to give my legs a break skiing with my fast alpine friends. Ropes were dropped on Lies and Twister today and it was a playground or whaleback ridiculousness!!! Nothing makes you feel more like a hero (and so yet limiting) and getting on those lock down skis.

tBatt, I was impressed with how our coaches navigated their little chargers down the slope, for a safe and enjoyable experience, right here @ Gore Mountain. Can't say the same for the aforementioned snowboarder; had he a coach from our staff, he would have least Tomahawked with style. Just sayin'. Happy Holidays, with miles of smiles to all Snow-sports enthusiasts. All the Best, Ski You Safely on The Hill. |
