Last weekend open for Caberfae, my daughter and myself planned to go on Sunday and our goal was to try and get last chair of the season. Well at 5:30am I was on my way to get Megan and I got the text that Said "I am not going to be able to ski today I woke up with a fever" So I made the 3hr 20min drive solo.
Saturday was 50 degrees and Sunday morning was 20 degrees with a high of 29 with off and on lake effect snow showers. Caberfae had gotten about half an inch of snow over night which for the first few runs really helped with the hard packed snow that covered the hill
They still have a good 2-4 feet of snow left, but between light crowds and they also have weddings in the lodge starting in mid April, and they have to pull all the cubbies and picnic tables out of the lower level and power wash the concert floor and upstairs they have to refinish the wood floors which get beat up bad by ski boots.
I made a number of runs and went in for an Arlo's Ultimate Bloody Mary and a plate of Caberfae's french fires, for $7 for both of them.

The snow never softened up a whole lot, but you could still get an edge in and it it was fast.
You can see the man made part in this pic of the South Peak
I didn't try to get the last chair without Megan, it just didn't feel right, so I skied from 9:30-3:15 and called it a day and a season.
Because I was on the road a little sooner than normal I took a different way home and went through Midland, Mi which is home to SMI Snow Guns.
Hey MI Skier, I meant to comment the other day and got distracted. Nice report. I like reading about the pre-war places. Any ski area with CCC heritage is pretty cool.
