@ Harv. Mt van Ho has 50 km of trail. Their Unit Management Plan calls for snowmaking over approximately 7.5 km of trail. ORDA have done a great job of ad hoc snowmaking at van Ho so far this winter, as the weather has been uncooperative. They've also opened the loop at the Intervale ski jumps.
Several New England cross-country ski areas have invested in some kind of snowmaking in the last few years. Craftsbury Outdoor Ctr, Rikert Ski Ctr (Middlebury College) and Grafton Ponds come to mind.
This winter's weather underscores the need for a systematic snowmaking strategy at Mt van Ho, even if they opt to cover fewer km than what's in the UMP. This is especially important if Mount van Hoevenberg and the Lake Placid area are to remain competitive both as a magnet for elite skiers and also for tourists.
