Damage Report

Hoser
Anyone braving it today at Gore or WF and can provide a damage report?   NWS forecasting 60-80 mph gusts in the high peaks.

Would appreciate info for any NY mountain, Cats, Daks or Western NY.  I'll start asking questions after temps fall back down below freezing.

I tried to do a screencap from the WF webcam but I couldn't get the Lower Valley preset to work. The other views still showed coverage.  As many know Hunter hasn't started blowing yet. Today is going to be a long day.

Yeah...starting tonight the 10 day looks like around the clock snow making temps.

highpeaksdrifter, the forecast shows that starting friday night, around the clock/ 24/7 snowmaking will occur for the next 13 days STRAIGHT, only one day does the forecasted high get above freezing and thats only to 34 degrees, the lowest forecasted low is 5 degrees. And 7 of those 13 days have forecasted snow.

Well, I woke up at 8:15 to see it dumping snow. We got probably 3" of wet'n'heavy today. I'm pretty far from Kissing Bridge and Holiday Valley, though. I talked to a friend who lives a few mins from KB, he said they got around a foot on Friday, and there was probably 6" when he left his house at 10:00 this morning for class. Just looked up the weather, another 11-17" tonight with 6-12" tomorrow. I wish Gore was in the snow belt, or there were some real mountains out here

Does anybody up at Gore know how bad the damage was?  I am trying to figure out my weekend plans and whether or not we should come up.

Well, while we did get a fair share of rain and warm temps yesterday, the temps dropped quickly late afternoon. I can hear the snow guns blasting now, and the Gore website says they are open with the 5:1 trail from the top of Bear. I think we will be ok.
Gotta go to know

From Gore:

"We started snowmaking up at midnight on Ruby - Sunway - Quick.

Just finished grooming and will be open at 8:30.

Exploring expanding now, more to come later.

We'll be uploading up a photo of Jambo from base area in the next few minutes."
