Who needs epic ski when we have this...

Haven't really used Epicski in a few years. It became a place run and controlled - either directly or indirectly - by a few intense personalities. It won't be missed by me.

Used to be a big Ski Instructor hangout, but a couple of years ago, PSIA came out with their own forum and a bunch of those instructor types drifted there.

Epic didn't have a lot going for it other than that. And even that was pretty terrible. Some instructors with good eyes, but holy shit, did they have some ridiculous arguments over tiny body movements.

Those guys are bummed about losing all their content. I get it. I'd care.

We are facing a similar issue here - Nabble could go away any day - but I get the feeling you guys probably would be ok with a new (empty) forum.

50% of the threads there seemed like they were trolls trying to make fun of the tourist skiers. I stopped posting on anything except for the 4Corners forum. Core2 moved that over to Pugski. I liked the trip reports and photos, it helped kill a lot of down time the last few years during my college experiment. I also won a Smith helmet for one of their monthly photo contests. I was asked to write a review on the helmet but I never got around to that and I got the impression that the mods resented me for that. Oh well.

I like this forum because it's authentic and small and talking about the east coast and NY skiing is really nostalgic for me.

You get to know people here and for the most part you can tell that everyone really loves skiing. That's cool.

I'm totally indifferent to Epicski coming to an end.

What do you guys think about a separate forum for helmet threads?

Spot on. That expert skier thing was hot garbage. Christ, who gives a shit?!

Not surprised at all. I started out there , quickly became bored with crusty , stodgy  ,anal retentive attitudes that obsessed over some mundane minutia of technique  rather than on the Fun of the sport .

I also disliked the stilted, tight assed tudes that seem to dominate and focus strictly on the west . Bfd i want a forum to be fun , informative , light hearted and focus on the joy of skiinwith cool trip reports by regular dudes who share a common interest in the sport . There is very very little condescention on this forum . All here seem to be just in this for the enjoyment and some occasional ball busting andthat is RIGHT on Target.

Oh did i say say Harv does a great job of NOT over moderhating and lets us all be assholes on occasion

I liked it for Alpine ski review section. However, once PhilPug left there and started PugSki that section went down hill...not in the good skiing way.

Never been on epic but I know funny and that shit right there is funny
