Europe first week of April

Denis.N
My wife, 2 kids and I have airline tickets to Zurich for the first week of April. Original plan was to stay and ski Zermatt but we have not made any accomodation plans. Well, it looks like lodging is quite expensive for a holiday appointment in Switzerland, so we are considering alternatives. I am torn between St Anton (and connected resorts) and Ischgl. Both Austrian resorts have lodging available at much lower price. Any suggestions? We have never skied in Europe or out West, just Chile 2 years ago.

Ugh

This is the New York ski blog and the only active threads are about out west and Europe.  Zero interest in any of that.
I've lived in New York my entire life.

Or, another way to look at it, this is a ski forum, and there is interest skiing, and snow.

Most of us have zero interest in your whining...which seems pretty consistent no matter what the subject.  Just sayin'.

Didn't you have a life changing pow experience at Steamboat?

Sorry to the OP for derailing this thread. Maybe James can come in and save it.

Just got back from Chamonix/Courmayeur - found fairly cheap AirBnB there (in town, Chamonix) during their holiday period. Walkign distance to lifts.  Check my trip report in that forum...hopefully will be getting the time to update it soon.
Skiing is not a sport, it is a way of life.

In April , you will need to avoid any eastern or southern facing resorts..Find one that has high altitude lifts etc..

Ischgl has excellent snow preservation and a long season -- see the Top Tens at the bottom of this link:

St. Anton generally isn't recommended for late season:
