First day for the season

raisingarizona
So we ended up with two feet up on the mountain here in the land of NAZ. The storm let up last night and the sun came out today. I had Bio class at 8:30 this morning so I set my alarm for 4:30 to head up for some dawn patrol action. I still had 3 people in front of me and another two went up bowl side around the same time. Still, I managed to ski a completely untracked run on Volcano (a nicely pitched wide open run with some islands of trees throughout) with bottomless powder snow. It was nice. I posted this pic up on Epic but I thought I would post it up on here too since I think some of you would appreciate it. I know it's not New York but I am a New Yorker. Sort of.

I got some but I'm not posting it. The skiing was really good and the turns are nice but it's low tide early season conditions and I was just cruising along. for the most part I don't think it looks that interesting.

I won't edit or post what I think is B footage any longer. I have done enough of that over the last five years just because marginal conditions was all that we had. Last March was the exception though. It was just starting to get good and I was about to get back into the swing of things and skiing the way I really would like to be but it went out as fast as it came in. Man I miss shredding confidently in the back country. So here is to hoping for a good season this year!

Agree with others. Beautiful.

And I still want to see the video, even if it's just 15 seconds of GoPro with a nice view. Just watching those volcano skiing videos that nepa has been posting has been awesome. Sometimes the things we think are commonplace and lame are interesting and exciting to others.

Excellent, next week they are predicting 50s and rain. I looked at the webcam from K-mart and it looks like the lost about everything they made. You guys got all our cold weather as the jet stream dipped.
