Things I'd like to read about from a guy (?) with the handle "Southern Tier":
• Analysis of Ellicottville as a ski town
• Difference between ski scene at Holiday Valley & Holimont (throw in Kissing Bridge or other mountains, too, if you want)
• Skiing in Ohio!?! Brandywine/Boston Mills TR
• Take a short(er) road trip up to the Hinterlands to ski with the guys who live up there (I want to do this, but I need a year when I have vacation time to burn)
• Backcountry skiing Allegheny State Park?
Off season forum:
• Best Mountain Biking spots in the Southern Tier
Off topic forum:
• Best beer from Southern Tier Brewing Company
• Comparison of beer between Southern Tier & Ellicottville Brewing Company
I'm pretty interested in this as well, but I have my own opinions on the matter.
Also, depending on where in Canada, it can be pretty far away. I think I figured out from some posts that those guys were north of Huron, which is 5-7 hours away, depending exact location.
I don't think you'll get much info on Allegany.
Best MTB - Ellicottville Rock City/McCarty of course but really it's best attribute is length. The trails don't have a lot of interesting features or jumps, if that's your thing. More old-school MTB, which is fun, but can get old. Almost all the riding south of Rochester area is this way, and why a lot of riders from these areas come to Rochester to ride, even though it's friggin' flat. But there's trails with jumps and berms and shit. There's some sick looking stuff in Cuyahoga area (I should find the vids) but I've never ridden it. I actually just found out about it this year.
You can't get EBC and ST offerings locally? Meh, it's all over here. Neither are big favorites, but if in the region I'd stop at the breweries.
I realize my opinion was unsolicited, but perhaps this could be a starting point for ST to work from.
