I hear Jay has 82 inches with another foot expected before Friday. Going for a record December there. How is Snow Ridge doing? Have you even got out skiing yet this season? Meanwhile at Jay... |
Maybe work on letting things that bother you too much slide a little. Really who gives a f*ck if Jay gets the average snow they say they do, does it affect your day to day life so much that you have to harp on it constantly?
Let it go dude. |
I'll admit it's an irrational obsession of mine. It has absolutely no effect on me, but I can't get it out of my head.
14-15 Season:
11-22 Snow Ridge (opening day 35") 1-7 Snow Ridge (10") 11-28 Grand targhee 1-8 Telluride(12 inches) 11-30 jackson hole(10 inches) 1-9 Whistler(12 inches) 1-11 mt bactchelor(20 inches) 12-7 Vail(15 inches) 1-12 Mt baker(30 inches 12-10 Whistler(20 inches) 12-12 Whistler helisking(bottomless) 12-14 Big Sky(27 inches) 12-15 Mammoth(24 inches) 12-18 Kirkwood(50 inches) 12-21 Alta(37 inches) 12-22 Grand targhee(40 inches) 12-26 jackson hole(26 inches) 12-28 Chugatch backcountry(bottomless powder) |
Mid feb/march, hit Jay/Stowe/Sugarbush, or anyone of those places in the in the northern greens, you will see a lot of snowfall, not just in current accumulation numbers, but just a huge base developed and a ton of snow in the trees.
Better yet, go to Sugarloaf and stop worrying about VT, awesome place. Let things go a bit, because eventually you become one of the aholes on the internet yourself. Take a few deep breaths and learn to enjoy what our mountains in the NE offer rather than arguing about what they don't. |

YES!!! The fencing of trails argument! I just lit up like a kid on Christmas morning!
Those wide open trails you keep talking about are WAY more dangerous than a glade, most people don't get the amount of speed you get skiing a huge wide open area when in the trees. But fencing? Jesus man, it's freaking skiing, it has some inherent dangers and if you can't except that than go try knitting or gaming or something else. I have to tell ya, nothing bothers me more than safety cops. It seriously grinds my gears. It has been turning our society into a bunch of p@ssy's that can't think and assess situations on their own and always want to have fences or railings to keep everyone safe. From those of us that love our freedoms to at least be able to enjoy some risk and to take some chances we kindly ask the p@ssy's of our society to knock it off. You are ruining the fun for us. |

Bro... that's the problem with goodbye forever notes, if you want to come back it's sorta uncomfortable. Seasoned vets remove their avatar as a sign but can also fake over that at a later date if necessary.
Busted on the post limit. Somebody built it for me, said it should work. I set the post limit at 20 per day. That's not much of a muzzle. And it's actually bad for the site as I essentially RAISED the number of times a spammer can post to 20, then I included you in the group. I've got more posts than anyone here and ten a day is a lot for me. What I've seen, almost without exception, is that members who posts 20x in one day, are flaming. I was actually hoping you'd figure it out and think "ok I can only do six posts today about Jay Peak so I'll have 12 for trail netting." Actually I wasn't sure it was working, so thanks for the confirmation. I noticed you were silent a few times but wasn't sure if it was story time or maybe bedtime. That's a busy time at our house. I still think that maybe I was over the top. You're nuts for sure, but basically a nice guy who just can't seem to STFU. We know your opinion now. Breathe some oxygen and give others a chance. Or quit or whatever. Every forum needs a wide open trail, scared of the trees guy, but we just don't want him to be 40% of the posts.

I'm NOT for banning glades. I also believe in personal freedom. I prefer skiing on a wide open trail(as do many people) and it is safer than skiing trees if you don't go that fast and ski in control. If you had the amount of people skiing conifers at wachusett every weekend suddenly decided to do glade skiing then you might as well set up a trauma unit at the bottom of the hill. lol That being said, the trauma park...er....I mean terrain park is probably the most dangerous thing on the mountain. ------------------------------- I might come back. It's not awkward for me at all. I'm just saying bye for now and we will see what the future holds.

How long did it take you to do this?
|
A hallmark moment - goodbye is supposed to be forever.
We will just call you bubble boy from now on You can get your mommy to wrap you up nice and safe so you can ski narrow eastern trails and heaven forbid glades. You can even drive in the snow. When I worked at Killington the most dangerous trail was always the wide double dipper not the glades right next to it. Same pitch but trees make you ski at a safe speed. My take is that you haven't yet skied this year and that is why you are so pissy.

I fixed it for you. LOL! Plenty of wide trails in new england. What are you talking about? I LOVE okemo's trails. Just wish they didn't groom everything flat. Mt Snow has plenty of wide trails, but in reality I can't afford to ski in vermont anyway so it's irrelevant. I could name a TON of new england mountains in wide trails. I was talking about magic being narrow and you moronically stated that "for natural snow operation" you can't have wide trails and then I made you look like a fool! So have you contacted alta/snowbird yet about installing all those trees so you can slay that pow? Listen, I have nothing against glade skiing, but it's not the same thing as riding pow on a trail and if you go much past 10mph it's dangerous. It's a completely different thing. Just the way I think Cross country skiing is cool or snowshoeing or tubing! Whatever you have fun doing! Just don't compare it to slaying pow on a trail

Have you every actually skied powder? Many times with 16" + the speed you carry in the trees and making some turns is the max speed you can carry anyway without straight lining.

You're kidding me right? I'd really like to post some videos, but I don't want anyone to be able to recognize me for safety reasons. Oh and the fact that you're asking about speed in powder means you've never skied any powder on steep/deep terrain on a wide open trail because you can absolutely FLY if you know what you're doing. Just go on youtube and look at some videos.
