After being at Belleayre for the Kandahar we had originally planned to ski at Plattekill today. I woke to no sun and a little light snow and checked the radar which indicated it would not be as sunny and warm in the morning as the forecast had said. We only planned to ski a half day so we decided to hit Gore on the way home instead. We had a late breakfast in Albany and got to Gore at 11:30. I decided to park at the Snow Bowl and was rewarded with a parking spot about 50 yards from the Hudson lift. I picked well as it was a blue bird day once we got to the Daks. With the wind it was chilly and the snow did not thaw out
Armed with our rock skis our goal was to ski as many of Gore’s glades as possible. The glades under the Hudson chair look so inviting but so thin so we headed to the Sagamore area. Borelis was nice and the top but pretty sketchy at the bottom. Sagamore itself was groomed and was a fun fast ride. I thought that always left that bumped but I don’t get to Gore all that often. Tawhaus glades were really nice and reminded me of some of the nicer glades at Jay. Chattamac Glade was a little crusty and tight but also fun. We got a solid half day in and headed home. A nice day for my son to unwind from the race scene that we enjoyed together.
