Gore Mountain - 2/6/14

MC2 5678F589
Really, really good skiing today at Gore. Darby Woods, Mineshaft, Tahawus, and Cirque were the "on the map" glades we skied (all open). Bony, but really nice, light snow on top. Definitely glad I had the rock skis on today, but also glad we were finally able to get into the trees. Chati and Rumor had big piles of soft snow on them:

The trees were awesome, and untracked in a lot of the (cough, cough) places:

Even the "on the map" stuff was cool. The new entrance into Tahawus Glades from Cedars is fun. We took the Echo Entrance to Cirque Glades, which was nice, but a little skied off in the usual places:

Topridge was open and had huge snowmaking whales:

All in all, it was a great day. So satisfying to finally get an all day skifest in:

MC thanks for this report. Reminds me of why I love Gore so much.

When you get a dump and it's all in play it's like.... where do we go?  And there are almost no wrong answers.

Those are pretty nice pics.  Really captured it. You're using a pretty nice camera I think - what is it?

Damn I wish I skied this storm!

I thought it was just the lack of brain buckets that made them look odd

Bottom of her hair is magenta... Ombre or some shit. I don't know...

Next glades clinic is March 8-9, Coach Z. Info here:

But I'm around every weekend if you just want to show up and ski.

Love the pics Matt. I think maybe this one was better to wait a day or two after the storm. It looks like they picked up significantly more snow after 4pm on Wednesday.

What about the clinic this weekend? You teaching?

Ahhh, yes. Just realized they're doing one this weekend, too.

I'm not sure what they've got me teaching (or how much snow will be left in the trees by Saturday), but I'll be around this weekend.

Re: Gore Mountain - 2/6/14

evergreen
The problem this year is that we are receiving Eastern quantities of Western powder.  We decided to try Killington for variety yesterday and had a blast in the trees, but hit many, many unidentified submerged objects.  We really need a few feet of dense typical snow, or there will be a very short to nonexistent spring skiing season.  We seem to be in a stormy trend and if that continues with moderating temperatures, we can hope.  Hoping to be in the woods this weekend at Gore, and excited to head over to the Hudson's chair.
