Harv Buys Beerz at Plattekill 2.0

The last two years I returned to Plattekill to ski my birthday.  I liked it.

Last year I bought beerz for anyone who met me in the bar after the lifts stopped spinning.  About 10 people showed up.

Here's my idea of a get together that jives with my shortage of time to organize anything. It's kindof a promo too.

You buy a lift ticket for my birthday and I'll buy you a beer.

You attach the ticket to your jacket and use it to ski.

Then meet me in the bar at the end of the day. I'll buy anyone with a lift ticket a beer.



Right now I'm thinking Sunday Jan 5, but I reserve the option to move the date.  

(Other options are 1/4, 1/12 and 1/13.)

Friday is looking like another good day to ski Plattekill.

I'm in. Skiing Plattekill as soon as I can get there, and buying a beer for anyone with a lift ticket for tomorrow.

There is at least an outside chance that enough natural will fall to open up a lot.

Let's see what happens with the Thruway. I'll be checking the traffic cameras the moment I wake up. We've got a snow day tomorrow...hoping to make it to Platty tomorrow or Saturday. Depends what time the snow lets up here. How will I know to spot the world-famous propietor of the NY Ski Blog?

I'm doing the same. Shooting for a predawn start hoping the thruway will be open when I get to it.

I think 17 is the alternative to 87?

I'll make it to Platty by bar time I'm sure, just will get skunked for first tracks.

  I'm on my way, in Oneonta now, 88 isn't bad, been able to drive 55-60 comfortably. I'm gonna be way early, first chair! If anyone else shows early, I'm a fat, bald guy with a goatee, black/grey Marker jacket.

  Hey Harv, maybe you can pull some clout with Laszlo, he's got conflicting info on his website, on the value card page holiday is listed as 12/26/13-1/1/14, on the ticket price page it's 12/26/13-1/5/14. I was expecting to pay the regular Friday rate, $38. I'm willing to buy the value card, but I think I should at least get half off the holiday rate, $29. Help a Brother out. Man, I miss those $15 Incentrev tickets, got 4 for under $80, ah the good old days. Should I stand on a table in the bar and yell HARVEY ROAD, didn't work the first time, but I'm willing to try again.

  I hope they got at least a foot, Snow Ridge has spoiled me.

Couldn't make it up today, but I'll be at Platty first thing tomorrow morning. Anyone else going to be there for some early tracks? I'll be the only guy on the mountain wearing a Philadelphia Eagles jersey...

I'm the cheapest sonofabitch on the planet, and I make it a point to spend money at Plattekill.  Buy lunch, drink apres-ski beers, etc...  I have no problem supporting the few surviving Mom+Pop mountains that "get it".
