Harvest Fest

Chris
Anyone going to be up?

Weather looks perfect, hopefully making it up on Sunday.  Will probably bring the bike, Rasinhead starts playing at 12.  Haven't seen them, but from a quick website browse, sounds like it's worth the drive.
The day begins...  Your mountain awaits.

We'll be at Gore on Saturday, sounds like a lot of activities for kids. Will also stop by Ski Bowl for some gear.

We went today (Saturday) and headed right to the equipment sale first at Little Gore.  The place was packed and there were some nice bargains.  The sales people were helpful and there was a nice fast check out despite what looked like a long line.

Then we went up to Gore and the place was full of happy people.  There was so much stuff for kids: bounce houses, rock climbing, a little train, some fun contests and even pony rides.  Plenty of craft vendors too.  Who knew there was an Adirondack Pickle Lady!

Took a ride on the gondola just to see what the place looks like without snow.  It was pretty but the foliage seemed to be more brown than brilliant.  The blue sky, slight breeze, and 70° made up for any lack of color in the trees.

We left early before any of the bands started and the parking lots were full with the over flow cars parked down the side of the access road.  I’d say the turnout was huge success.

Was there today. They had a good croud again. I think that they didn't expect so many people over the 2 days. They ran out of some beers. We did take a helicopter ride and it was cool to see the mt. from the air. The band was also very good.

Would love to see Gore from the air.

Did people come to Harvest Fest via the train?

I stopped by for a minute after Crane to try and find Connor.

My friends sister went up in the heli. I wanted to, but I'm broke. No luck here.

I heard or read (or both?) that about 500 per day came up via train. From the Post Star: http://bit.ly/p1vJT2

We went up on Sunday and had a great time. The $10 bracelet for "all you can bounce" bounce houses was a great investment. (No I was not the one doing the bouncing.)

That's great to hear people were using the train.  I was up both days, actually.  On Saturday I hit the ski sale and bked up to the Top Ridge chair, and did Alexa's run/single track.  There is a lot of potential for quality biking at Gore.  Alexa run is best rode counter clockwise in my opinion, it's a fun little loop with lots more potental that will come with rider traffic.

Sunday a group of us went up and ate some grub, drank beer and listened to raisinhead, they were really good.  It was great to see the huge turnout.  The vendors were selling some really nice stuff, loved the furniture over by the gondola, that bar would look nice in our place!

After we left the mtn, we stopped by Basil&Wicks, the portions are freakin' HUGE, a major bang for your buck.  They were doing a brewfest, but we were all tired so didn't participate. I think they had about 20 beers pouring outside, with tents and a cooker smoking away.
