Hiking in the Catskills?

jimvdak
Hey All - need some good suggestions on day hikes in the Catskills. Preferably with easy access from the thruway, moderate hikes with good views for the coming weeks of fall foliage season? I've tried searching online, but it doesn't seem there's any good databases of hiking the Cats on the web..thanks!!

Overlook Mountain: first to the lake, then fire tower. The best moderate hike in the Cats.

ML beat me to it.

Don't overlook the Gunks.  Millbrook Mtn is an excellent moderate hike.  One warning, the Gunks can get quite crowded on weekends during fall foliage season.  It is possible to be completely shut out of parking.

That's true, but nothing beats getting up early and shuffling into Sam's Point right when it opens.

Catskillmountaineer.com
catskillhiker.com
Two realy good sites
As for hikes heres some
hunter mt.
huckleberry point
north south lake escarpment trails
windham high peak
acra point
Giant ledge
slide mt. From rt 42
Overlook mt ( ratttlesnake on site)
twin mt. ( not moderate in catskills terms but well worth the harder upper section)
balsam lake mt.

Just some to consider too many to name all of them
also dontbe afraid to look at the shawangunks, plent of good views their aswell, on easyer trails ( the carage roads alease)
Black diamonds, the easy way down, less moving hazzards
