I have case where I counted two areas as one (ie. Flégère-Le Brévent in Chamonix) and other as multiples. I skied Blackcomb when it was separate ownership than Whistler back in 1988 and 1996. Les Trois Vallées : stayed 6 days and counted as 4 (Val Thorens, Les Menuires, Meribel, Courchevel) as each of the 4 are biggest than Killington. Chamonix : counted 3: 1) Aiguiile du Midi/Mt Blanc, 2) Grand Montet and 3) Flégère-Le Brévent (which are joined areas by one lift, but can be skied separately as ski areas/lift tickets back in 2003). I'll put up my list, but going to see The Who tonight plus I need to choose some pics for my WV Part 1 TR.

You are right those really are all separate ski areas but when they are linked it kind of makes them one. Chamonix I should count as 3 as Flégère-Le Brévent really ski as one big area since they are easily connected. I think that takes me to 81. When we skied Les Trois Vallées I was skiing with a co-worker that was born in that area and we skied with his extended family including his cousin that was a ski instructor there and his uncle who was a chef. We went back and forth across all 4 ski areas and I can not really recall one form the others - there really are 4 not 3 as the name implies. The snow was not that great but the food was out of this world. If you ski with a French family the day really is about eating and drinking with some skiing thrown in between places to eat and drink. That is one of my favorite skiing memories though the skiing as sub par that weekend.

LOL. I first rode lifts at age 40, but unlike James, I don't really have the unquenchable thirst for variety. 26 Ski Areas: NY Whiteface Gore North Creek Ski Bowl Garnet Hill Highwinds Hickory Plattekill Bell Hunter Mount Peter Windham VT Stowe Spruce Peak Jay Sugarbush Mad River Glen Killington Okemo Stratton NH Attitash Wildcat Cannon PA Camelback Blue Mtn Western US Squaw Valley Beaver Creek Summit County Hut System Europe Arosa Some mighty impressive lists here. I was at les 3v with a friend, his family with kids plus a couple of other friends. I meet him when he was an exchange from France and we were on the ski team together. It was what driving me nuts!!! The first few days we would leave late and back to the apartment for long lunch (maybe it was the fact that family was with him). So much terrain to see and we weren't skiing much. My wife was staying one month at her mom's with our daughters, the youngest being only a few months old. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, my wife is from France. I did two trips during our month in France. 11 days (2 travel days): Jungfrau and les 3 vallées...and 3 days at the end of the month in Chamonix.

Really? wow - based on the fact that you only skied 4 ski areas West and East in Canada. I presume it was tied in to the Tremblant trip? 13th row tonight...a was slightly closer in 2005(?). I decided not to go at the 1980(?) show, they didn't play Montreal on their last tour in 1982. I remember kicking myself for having not gone when I had the chance. Then I went to see them in Toronto in 1989...then again in 1997 in Montreal (their 1st show in the city since 1980. They played Ottawa the last time which was they first time since 1969 or something. They are returning now. Concerts are another of my passion, but I focus on skiing for my blogging/forums/online stuff.

Yeah, I know that looks odd on the list. You are right, it was tied in to a Tremblant trip about 12 years ago. We stayed at the Chantecler resort, skied xc at Far Hills one day (great place), and downhill for a day each at Tremblant and Chantecler. The Kicking Horse visit was tied in to a backcountry hut trip in the Selkirks in 2003. Skied there for a day, then heli'd in to a hut for a week of earned turns. Nice! |

The skiing that was limited to pistes and not that great due a freeze thaw cycle. Normally I'm all about the skiing but that weekend was a great to experience French culture and food and the importance of spending time with your family and friends in the mountains. I normally don't ski and drink but its the norm over there. If we was skiing off piste I think i would have not done it. I remember at the end of the day it was almost dark and we had a couple grand vert to ski and I was already have in the bag from drinking wine with lunch. My friends dad pulls out this flask of home made elderflower hooch that he called Vitimin because he said it helps him see in the dark. It was a classic expereince.
