How is West Mountain not open yet?

A pass holder told they're not opening until this weekend, and wasn't too happy about it.

Chris
Hmm..
I know nothing... but here at the thoughts that first jump to my fingers.

1.)  It's still EARLY.  Their elevation is far lower than the other mountains.  When I was your age West was lucky to even open by Xmas.
2.)  It's early, there's no snow on the ground which has an effect on business.  Without school programs running yet, if they opened early they're going to be hemorrhaging a ton of money until the lowlands get snow/school programs/races are running.
3.)  Give them time, that place has come leaps and bounds in the past 3 years, they just got their snowmaking system rolling, it takes time and a LOT of money to work the kinks out.

Keep in mind you're going to have far greater product this year and the coming years than that mountain has ever been able to offer.  I saw they pushed opening until Sunday because of the forecast... How many people do you think would have gone skiing on Saturday if it was 45 and pouring rain?
The day begins...  Your mountain awaits.
