How many different mountains did you ski in 2010/2011? I hit up 9 different mountains this season. Their vertical drop varied from 600 to 2100 . Trail count from 18 to 77 and distance from house from 14 miles to 365.
Want to spend special time with your children, teach them to ski or snowboard. The reward will be endless!

MRG Jay Sugarbush Mt. Snow West Usually I'm good for a few more, but I was pretty busy at Gore this year. Still room on the list for a trip to WF and a trip to Tuck's. |

PowMow, Snowbird, Brighton, Solitude, Alta, Gore, Whiteface, Holiday Valley, Kissing Bridge, Magic, Willard. I went to West and Royal, but never got to ski.
Vertical ranging from 500 (kissing bridge) to 3430 (Whiteface!)... unless hiking the mines with Connor counts. Then That's probably only 175 vertical or so. Trail count.. couldn't tell ya. Willard probably has 10. One of the mtns in Utah probably has upward of 100, except there are a lot of open bowls that wouldn't really justify the trail count : Acreage ratio. PowMow claims 7000 skiable acres. |

Matt I don't know how you can't include Whiteface on your list.
Fuje - what was the vert on that sand dune you skied? Gunny J - what hills are on your list? Would like to see River's list... I'm also hoping I'm not done. I've got 35 days: Gore Mtn North Creek Ski Bowl Harvey Mtn Balm o Gilead Whiteface The Slides Hickory Plattekill Hunter Jay Peak Mt Trixie Alpine Mountain No real Garnet Hill this year, except to access the woods. I actually think that's pretty cool list for me. I like those mountains a lot. And Hickory, Jay, the Ski Bowl and The Slides are all new to me.

Park City The Canyons (I prefer quality over quantity ... Just Kidding!!! ) I was really hoping to get to Gore this year, and a couple of trips into the Catskills but my season got cut short with a bad injury. Maybe next year!!!

This could take a while... in order of first visit of the season:
Killington (Earned) Sunday River Cannon Smuggs Balsams Wilderness* Mount Snow* Cranmore* Pico (First visit in a dozen years) Mad River Glen Tenney (Closed/Earned) Saddleback Burke Middlebury College Snowbowl* Jay Bromley (First visit in a dozen years) Okemo* Sugarloaf I am hoping to add Whiteface and Gore to this list. Stowe and Sugarbush will definitely be added as well as Killington lift serviced. Probably too late to add Stratton or Suicide Six. * = The List.

I hate people that live so close to the mountains. Good for you Steve |
Steep subject for a mellow mind. We have a ceramic nick-knack hanging in our downstairs water closet that sums it up; "If you're lucky enough to live in the mountains, you're lucky enough" This season rivals 2000/2001 throughout the Northeast for snowfall, weather and fun; Long May It Run. For Pounder Hounders we can never get enough, you get what you give, as long as you share and spread the goods with friends. Nuf said, here is my tote, complete with spin on the best campaign I've had going downhill.
Gore- Ski Bowl reopens, classic trees that are all growed up! Sugarbush- terrain, cold, always until the last bell. Burr. Hickory- Think you're an expert? Ski Hickory, find out. West Mtn. Like night skiing with 2000 teenyboppers? Back to the future, circa 1974. Party on Dude. Whiteface- Steep, fallline and wait for it...Holy Cow! POW-POW! Slides were not available, dodged that bullet. Bolton Valley- Virginal trip. Thank you sir, may I have another. Smuggs- Either ditch the chute your in or chuck a 20' cliff. Guess I followed the wrong tracks. Tracks also ditched the alleged chute. Needs another look see, this year. Jay- Terrain, conditions, weather, com-padres. Over the top and down around, 'til both knees started trash talking. Back next week. Stowe- same old, lame old, only pricier. Never again. Unless free tickets, OB guide, and debriefing @ Mr. Pickwicks Pub (Scotch List- 60+ Items!) My Side Yard- kinda hike side-hill for about half a mile, then pretty much go downhill for another half mile, collecting 900' of fall-line tree vert. Repeat as able. Sadly, this faces the Westerly way and has disappeared in the last few days. Next on the short to-do list; K-Mart- Sunshine Daydream 4/16. Always a hoot. MRG- I'll ski it this year when and if I can. Sugarloaf- Never skied in The Pine Tree State, maybe this will be.... |

There are some pretty impressive lists here! I'm a little jealous but shouldn't be, I've had a great time this year on these four:
Gore (10) - I consider it my home mountain and I feel like I really got to know it this year. Hickory (7) - First season skiing there. It definitely took my skiing to a different level but I still have a LOT to learn. Whiteface (2) - In many ways my favorite. I just love the mountain and the region. West (7) - First season there also. Skied there while my daughter took lessons. Nice mid-week change of pace. Might sneak over to West for some last licks there tonight. Heading up to Whiteface tomorrow! I can't ski this weekend so after tomorrow it's all a question of what's open when. I'm also hoping to sneak in an end of season trip somewhere in VT but it remains to be seen whether or not that will happen. |
